MEDICINE HAT, AB – Four teams remain in the WMBL playoffs, with the Medicine Hat Mavericks looking to return to the league finals for the first time since their 2014 championship season.

The Mavericks defeated the Lethbridge Bulls 4-1 on Saturday night to win their best-of-five Western Semi-Final series 3-2.

That victory has set up a West Finals series against the Edmonton Prospects, who upset the top-ranked Okotoks Dawgs in five games on Saturday as well.

Medicine Hat took the season series 5-3 over the Prospects and have won four straight against Edmonton, including a double-header in the province’s capital to close out the regular season.

This will also be a rematch of last year’s West Final which was won by the Prospects in five games, eliminating the Mavericks from playoffs.

In other WMBL news, Medicine Hat ace Jared Libke has been named Pitcher of the Week after guiding the Mavericks to the second round with a one-hit outing against Lethbridge on Saturday.

First pitch between the Mavericks and Prospects is at 7:05 pm at Athletic Park.
