BROSSARD, Que. — Quebec provincial police were searching Thursday for a truck involved in a hit and run near Montreal that left one person dead in a car.

Three other people in the car were injured in the accident on Highway 30 eastbound in Brossard, just south of Montreal.

Police say a tractor trailer struck the vehicle at about 1 a.m., causing it to hit a lamppost.

A 21-year-old male passenger in the back seat died while the three other occupants suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police spokeswoman Ingrid Asselin said the four were from the same family and came from Mexico.

An image of the suspect vehicle shows it is white without any markings on the trailer with the exception of reflectors.

Authorities said the truck in question has certain similarities to a Volvo-made vehicle.
