Knights win first game at North District tournament in Havre

HAVRE, MONTANA — The Medicine Hat Knight’s advanced to the next round of the North District Tournament on Thursday, thanks to a strong performance on the mound.

The Knights topped the Great Falls Chargers 5-1 to open the tournament, which runs until Sunday.

Ethan Boutkan last the full seven innings for the Knights, striking out nine batters and only allow four hits.

The Knights were down 1-0 until the fourth inning, when Zach Stark hit a double, driving in a run.

Keon Vereschagin led the Knights with two RBIs. Travis Small scored two runs, while Stark, Boutkan, and Ethan Loren all had one run each.

The Knights play again Friday at 3 p.m. against the winner of Fort MacLeod and Lewistown.
