Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games officially opens

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A special ceremony helped kick off the The Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games on Friday.

The Cypress Centre Fieldhouse was packed with athletes, coaches, spectators and volunteers during the opening ceremonies of the games Friday evening.

Dignitaries in attendance at the opening ceremonies included Alberta Lieutenant Governor Lois E. Mitchell, Medicine Hat MLA Bob Wanner, Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner MP Glen Motz, Mayor Ted Clugston and Special Olympics Champions Network members Catriona Le May Doan.

The Olympics are in full swing tomorrow, with events throughout the day at the Family Leisure Centre, Panorama Lanes, Crescent Heights High School, Connaught Golf Course and the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club.
