CHICAGO, IL – Day Two of the NHL Entry Draft wrapped up in Chicago on Saturday, with a number of Medicine Hat Tigers and Brooks Bandits hearing their names called over the weekend.

Tigers playmaker Mason Shaw had to wait a while to put on his first pro jersey, as he was taken in the fourth round, 97th overall by the Minnesota Wild.

A breakout season for Shaw last year with the Tigers, as he posted 27 goals and 94 points in 71 games in 2016-17.

His teammate in 19-year-old Zach Fischer was selected in the following round, 140th overall by the Calgary Flames.

Joining the Flames organization, the Alberta native scored 34 goals and 63 points in his third full season with the Tigers last year.

Just four picks later, the second Brooks Bandit was selected by an NHL club with forward Parker Foo going to the Chicago Blackhawks, who were hosting this weekend’s festivities.

Foo finished with 34 goals and 66 points in 60 games with the Bandits, ranking fifth on the team in scoring.

On Friday night, defenceman Cale Makar became the highest drafted player out of the AJHL in league history, going fourth overall to the Colorado Avalanche.

The reigning CJHL and REC Cup MVP had 75 points in 54 games from the back end, and will be joining the University of Massachusetts in the fall.

A third Tiger was selected in the sixth round, with the Ottawa Senators nabbing goaltender Jordan Hollett with the 183rd pick.

Acquired from the Regina Pats this off-season, Hollett went 15-2-0 with a 2.83 goals against and a .901 save percentage in a backup role with the Eastern Conference champions.
