MEDICINE HAT, AB – Beautiful weather on Saturday night down at the Medicine Hat Stampede Grounds, with a hotly contested Day 3 of the Medicine Hat WPCA races.

High River’s Jason Glass was the fastest on the third night of racing, coming off barrel 10 in the opening heat he finished with a flawless time of 1:01.41.

Day 2 winner Doug Irvine finished as the runner-up on Saturday, finishing with a time of 1:01.73 and booking his spot in the championship final.

Third place on Saturday went to Evan Salmond, who came across the finish line in 1:01.93 but finished half a second back of qualifying for the final Dash for Cash.

Kurt Bensmiller finished in ninth on Saturday and looked to clinch top spot in the aggregate, but a late outrider penalty against Luke Tournier was successfully appealed giving Tournier the three-day overall lead.

Heading into the finals, Tournier leads Bensmiller by just over a tenth of a second while Irvine sits a little under three-tenths of a second back.

Tournier, Bensmiller, and Irvine will compete for the Dash for Cash and the Medicine Hat WPCA title on Sunday, with races beginning at 2:00 pm at the Stampede Grounds.
