Three people are in custody after police tracked down the suspects in a recent shoplifting case.

According to the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS), the shoplifting took place on the evening of June 5, at the Mac’s Milk convenience store located along 12 Street Northeast in Crescent Heights.

Two men were captured on store video taking goods from the shelves, and the store clerk managed to get the license plate of the vehicle the pair used to get to the store. When police ran the information through their database, the plate came up stolen out of Manitoba.

The men were not located immediately following the incident.

However, an officer on patrol in Crescent Heights noticed the plate on a vehicle the following day in the 400 block of 12 Street Northwest. Both the vehicle and plate were reported stolen out of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

After the first male suspect was arrested, a man and a woman fled the vehicle, carrying duffle bags of stolen property.

The woman was taken into custody following patrols made by MHPS officers, while the second man was tracked with the police service dog and arrested close to the South Saskatchewan River.

The trio are now waiting for bail hearings, and face an array of charges linked to the possession of stolen property.
