BROOKS, AB – Two Medicine Hat high school baseball teams paid a visit to Brooks over the weekend for a pair of exhibition games on Saturday.

The opening game saw the Medicine Hat High Mohawks (5-2) face off against the powerhouse Brooks Buffalos (7-1).

Medicine Hat scored one run in the first inning following a stolen base, but Brooks was able to respond shortly after to tie the game at 1-1.

With both teams exchanging runs early tied 2-2, the Buffalos got the go-ahead run in the third inning thanks to a Bryden Sillito ground out.

Dax Wandler and Carson Becker each picked up RBIs in the fourth inning, to seal a 5-2 victory for Brooks.

Zach Stark picked up the loss for the Mohawks with three earned runs given up over five innings, while Brooks’ Carson Troidl gave up only two hits and one earned run with five strikeouts.

The action didn’t end there for the Buffalos, as right after they squared off with the McCoy JV Colts.

Brooks launched themselves into a 3-0 after the first inning, but the Colts were able to take advantage of a tired Buffalos team with eight runs in the second.

McCoy extended their lead to 12-3 in the fifth inning before Brooks closed the gap to 12-5.

Any doubt of a Colts victory was erased in the sixth inning with seven runs on the board, with the game being called at 19-5.

It’s an all-Medicine Hat matchup on Tuesday night, as the Mohawks and Crescent Heights Vikings meet for an exhibition game at 5:30 pm at Athletic Park.
