Accidental 911 call leads to Athabasca grow-op bust

May 11, 2017 | 12:13 PM

RCMP say a 9-1-1 call accidentally made by a young child playing with a phone led them to a marijuana grow operation in northern Alberta.

Police say they went to the home south of Athabasca to investigate after the call was disconnected on Tuesday.

They say a search turned up evidence of a grow-op being completed in the garage, a basement room being used to dry a large quantity of marijuana and several guns, including a prohibited weapon.

The 32-year-old mother of the child is facing a drug possession charge while a warrant has been issued for her 35-year-old partner on several outstanding charges.
