LETHBRIDGE, AB — Erasing multi-goal deficits was the Medicine Hat Tigers forte through the regular season.

But now, they’re getting a taste of their own medicine.

For the second straight game, the Lethbridge Hurricanes fought back from a two-goal deficit to steal a victory from the Medicine Hat Tigers, in turn taking a 2-1 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Hurricanes forward Giorgio Estephan continues to be a thorn in the Tigers side. The CHL’s Player of the Week grabbed another two goals — three days separated from collecting his first career playoff hat-trick in game two. Tyler Wong, playing his final year in the WHL, picked up a goal and a helper in a 5-2 victory for the home team. The 21-year old now has 15 points in 10 playoff games, compared to Estephan’s 16 points.

Estephan and Wong are now first and second respectively in WHL playoff scoring. Jordy Bellerive tallied the ‘Canes first goal midway through the second period, and Brennan Menell sealed off the victory with an empty netter.

The Tigers opened the scoring with James Hamblin’s second goal of the post season at the 12:27 mark of the first period. Defenceman Dylan MacPherson pitched in with his third career playoff point on the play. Medicine Hat went into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead and an 11-9 shot advantage.

Mark Rassell gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead nearing the midway mark of the second period; a goal which also saw Hamblin collect an assist and his second point of the match.

From there, It was all Hurricanes, lighting the lamp with five unanswered goals.

Michael Bullion, playing in his seventh consecutive playoff game, allowed four goals on 30 shots. His counterpart, Stuart Skinner, had his best game of the post season, stopping 36 of 38 shots fired his way.

Medicine Hat will look to square up the series, and avoid a potential elimination game on Friday, with game four set for the Enmax Centre in Lethbridge on Wednesday (7:00 p.m.)
