MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat College Rattlers named their athletes of the year Friday night.

At the college’s annual athletic awards banquets, soccer/futsal play Kaity Letwinuk was named the female athlete of the year, while volleyball player Isak Helland-Hansen was named Male Athlete of the Year.

Letwiniuk, in her fifth year with the Rattlers, was part of the ACAC Futsal championship winning team, claiming the gold medal earlier this month. She finished the soccer season with 14 goals and 31 points.

Helland-Hansen’s award caps off a strong year for the Norwegian outside hitter. He finished the season with 37 service aces, 202 kills and 125 digs, and was named both the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Volleyball Player of the Year. Helland-Hansen also won bronze with the Rattlers at the CCAA Men’s Volleyball championship.
