DAUPHIN, MB — While it may not be their home rink, the Brandon Wheat Kings will likely be greeted by a hot crowd at Credit Union Place.

With the Keystone Centre hosting the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair this week, the Wheat Kings have been forced to play games 3 and 4 of its WHL Playoff Series against the Medicine Hat Tigers in Dauphin, two hours north of Brandon.

Doug Zywina, sports reporter with the Dauphin Herald, says the Wheat Kings will likely be the recipients of a hot crowd.

“The city seems to be excited, there’s certainly a buzz around town,” Zywina said over the phone. “As the series progresses, I think a lot of people are looking forward to it.

Zywina says he also expects a number of Wheat King fans will make the trek up to watch the games in Dauphin. Credit Union Place has bowl seating for 1,763 people, and also has room for 752 people to stand and watch the game.

“I know in the last couple of years, a lot of Dauphin people have gone to the Wheat Kings’ playoff games in Brandon, so I would expect the die-hard Brandon fans to make the trip north to Dauphin,” he said.

The Wheat Kings are in a must-win situation against the Tigers tonight after losing the first two games of the playoffs to the Tigers.

Tonight’s game gets underway at 6:30 p.m. (MST). Bob Ridley will have the play-byplay on CHAT 94.5 tonight, with the pre-game show starting at 6 p.m.
