Tigers to host Wheat Kings in opening round of playoffs
MEDICINE HAT — Say hello to your first round opponent.
The Brandon Wheat Kings clinched the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference on Wednesday night, pinning them against the Medicine Hat Tigers in the first round of the playoffs.
Medicine Hat won the season series with three wins and one loss. Their most recent meeting was Feb. 25, the same night Tom Lysiak’s #9 was raised to the Canalta Centre rafters. The Tigers went on to win 4-0.
Chad Butcher leads all Tigers with two goals and four assists against the Wheat Kings this season while Stelio Mattheos has tacked on two goals and three helpers to lead all Wheat Kings against the Tigers. Also worth noting, projected first overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft Nolan Patrick has scored twice in two games.
