City digging into hard to find housing units

MEDICINE HAT, AB — City officials say they are looking into issues at a housing complex in Southlands.

Everyone from delivery drivers to emergency responders reportedly have trouble finding the homes when they are called.

The buildings are 251 and 247 Southlands Boulevard Southeast.

One of the residents who spoke with CHAT News on Thursday said she was concerned about the safety of herself and her neighbours after paramedics struggled to find her apartment during a medical emergency.

Other residents took to social media to explain that they’ve had similar issues.

Some say the issue is with the visibility of the suite numbers from the street and it’s causing a lot of confusion.

Howard Snodgrass, general manager of community development, said the city is working with several groups to find a solution to the problem.

“We’re looking at the visibility and the prominence of the actual addressing on the property and the actual suites,” said Snodgrass. “From there we’ll be working with our property manager and also with emergency responders, police, fire and EMS.”

There is no timeline for when residents living in the Southlands complex could see any changes.
