Wildrose on Campus Calgary communications director fired due to email

CALGARY- An uproar over an email promoting the screening of a film at the University of Calgary has led to the firing of the communications director for the student group Wildrose On Campus Calgary.

Monday’s email read, in part, “feminism is cancer” — wording that was placed above an advertisement for the planned screening of the “The Red Pill,” a 2016 documentary about the Men’s Rights Activist movement, on Wednesday.

The group says it’s no longer co-hosting the event and has used social media to apologize for the comment.

Wildrose leader Brian Jean went on Twitter to say he’s glad action was taken and that women need to be encouraged to engage in the political process.
