Snow on the way for Hometown Hockey

Medicine Hat, AB — Day one of Rogers Hometown Hockey in Medicine Hat wrapped up around 6:00 P.M. on Saturday.

The festivities began on Friday night with a celebration in the city’s downtown core.

There was street hockey, wagon rides, hot cocoa and fireworks at the end of the night.

Saturday the official Hometown Hockey event got under way at noon.

Residents and visitors had a chance to check out the Rogers Fan Hub, NHL viewing room, a very popular ball hockey rink, along with plenty of bands and entertainment.

While the weather for the events Friday and Saturday was great the forecast is predicting snow for Saturday night and into Sunday.

Environment Canada expects the snow to start around 8:00 P.M. with five to ten centimetres expected to fall overnight.

There’s a 30 percent chance of flurries during the day on Sunday with a high of minus eight. There’s also a 60 percent chance of flurries for Sunday night with a low of minus 12.

If you are planning to attend the Hometown Hockey event Sunday make sure to dress warm and be prepared for the snow if you plan to stick around for the live broadcast from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
