MEDICINE HAT, AB — Whether you’re in the market for a home, or just curious about what you can do to spruce it up, the Cypress Centre is the place to be this weekend.

The Sunshine Home and Garden Show got underway Friday afternoon, giving people from Medicine Hat and area the opportunity to connect with companies and vendors in the area of home building, repair, landscaping and many other industries.

“Things are going absolutely wonderful,” said Paula Stodalka, trade show manager with the chamber. “We have over 200 exhibitors here, anything from retail, to renovations, to landscaping, a lot of great displays.

“We had people lined up at the door before we opened, so it’s been great.”

Stodalka said the show sold out of exhibitor space months before the doors open, continuing a trend from last year

In addition to the home builders and renovation companies, the show features food vendors, a children’s section and information about healthy activities.

Stodalka adds walking around the show can give homeowners ideas about future projects they can do to spruce up their home or yard.

“Spring is a great time to start thinking about projects, whether it’s around the house or the yard, things to do with your time over the summer,” she said. “There are lots of things to purchase, but there’s also planning and ideas that can start from the things you see at the trade show.”

The show runs until 9 p.m. tonight, and runs Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors, and free for children 11 years old and under.
