MEDICINE HAT, AB — One of the candidates seeking the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada made a stop in Medicine Hat on Thursday.

Brad Trost, who currently serves as MP for the riding of Saskatoon-University, visited Medicine Hat, hosting a meet-and-greet at the Canalta Centre Thursday afternoon.

Approximately 40 people were on hand to meet Tros, who says events like this are important for leadership candidates.

“Politics is about communication, and communication is more about listening than talking,” he said. “You can’t listen if you don’t meet people.”

Trost, who is among the 14 seeking the leadership of the party, says he is 100 per cent conservative, and supports both fiscal and social conservative positions.

“That’s been the historic coalition we’ve built,” he said. “This is nothing new or unique.

“I don’t want to change the party. Other candidates want to move the party on, and when they talk about a big tent, they talk about making our party Liberal Lite.”

The party will vote for its new leader in May.
