MEDICINE HAT, AB — A local swim coach has been chosen among a shortlist number of participants for the Swim Alberta Future Coach program.

Alberta Marlins Aquatic Club (AMAC) coach Jordan Harper will participate in three workshops, facilitated by Swim Alberta. Harper is one of six coaches across the province to receive the invitation.

This is the first step towards expanding Harper’s coaching career. The Future Coach program will allow him to build his contact database, while learning vital coaching techniques that he can pass on to his AMAC swimmers.

Furthermore, two coaches taking part in this program will become assistants at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, MB. Harper represented Saskatchewan as a competitor in the 2009 Canada Summer Games, and says his experience competing in the national ranks could help other swimmers taking the start line for the first time.

CHAT TV News caught up with Harper to discuss what it means to be chosen for the program, how it helps enhance his coaching resume, and the effect participating in this program could have on his future.
