MEDICINE HAT, AB — Are you a pop music fan? Enjoy country radio or talk radio? Ever wish you could have access to multiple Canadian radio stations in one place?

There’s now an app for that.

The Radioplayer Canada app launched Wednesday morning, and includes more than 400 stations from across the country from a consortium of broadcasting companies. The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group are among the companies which have partnered with the app, giving listeners the opportunity to listen to CHAT 94.5 and MY96 across the country.

“The Radioplayer app is quite a step forward for the industry, and making our signals available everywhere,” said Dave Sherwood, general manager for the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group in Medicine Hat.

The app is available in the App Store or Google Play Store, and is free to download. Once downloaded, listeners can access radio stations in both English and French in every province, wherever they are. The app can also be used on your computer, tablet, and can be streamed through Bluetooth in your vehicle.

“With the technology these days, everything is as good as it could be,” Sherwood said.

Sherwood added the app is important for the Canadian radio industry.

“Radio is a booming business, and very successful, but it’s important these days, with so many entertainment and information options available, that people do have an easy way to access our stations and listen to the entertainment and information they provide,” he said.

Radioplayer was originally launched in the United Kingdom in 2011, and has spread to Ireland, Norway and Germany.
