Basketball teams prepare for rivalry showdown

MEDICINE HAT — Three weeks remain in the ACAC basketball regular season, and both MHC Rattlers squads hope to grind out a pair of critical wins over their Highway #3 rivals this weekend.

The men, sporting a 12-3 record, are in a four-way tie for first place in the South with the RDC Kings, SAIT Trojans, and the Lethbridge Kodiaks. The Rattlers head to Lethbridge Friday night, before welcoming the Kodiaks to the Snake Pit on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the ladies from MHC’s provincial hopes are slightly less certain, albeit still in their advantage. They hold a two-point lead over Red Deer for the final playoff position with two games in hand.

The women will certainly be tested this weekend. Lethbridge hasn’t lost a single game all season, boasting a 15-0 record. Back in early November, the Kodiaks handed the Rattlers a 75-58 loss.
