Cubs drop lopsided match in Airdrie

Jan 17, 2017 | 10:06 AM

The Medicine Hat Cubs suffered their 20th loss of the season on Sunday.

The Junior B team was up in Airdrie to take on the Thunder, but faced a tough 9-1 loss. The Cubs saw their only goal in the second period.

What they lacked in goals was made up in penalty minutes. The team saw four penalities in the second period and one in the third.

The Cubs had nearly 40 shots on goal, but the Thunder more than doubled their shot-count to take the win.

Medicine Hat had collected points in their previous two games but still sits second last in the league.

They play their next game at the Kinplex on Jan. 20 at 8:30 p.m. against the Strathmore Wheatland Kings.
