Landon Smith went to the Jump Park in Sherwood Park with his girlfriend and her family for a child’s birthday party.

According to Landon’s older brother John, Landon did a flip into a foam pit on his first jump of the night. Landon was swallowed into the foam and didn’t resurface.

After a few minutes, Landon’s girlfriend found him laying at the bottom of the pit. Landon allegedly went through the foam, past the safety trampoline at the bottom and hit the concrete floor. The family called 911 and Landon was rushed to hospital.

According to John, while Landon can move his arms and fingers, he is right now unable to move his legs. Landon is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday.

The Jump Park issued a statement on its Facebook page saying the foam pit is injury standard and there were no defects with the equipment.
