Catholic board looking for feedback on trustees

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education is seeking feedback from the community about potentially adding a fifth trustee for next year’s election.
The board is currently comprised of four trustees after the Bow Island Ward left Medicine Hat Catholic to join the Holy Spirit School Division in Lethbridge in 2014. The board sees the addition of a fifth trustee as a positive move, saying it will allow a greater division of responsibilities among trustees, provide another voice in discussions and reduce the chances of split votes.
The board is also seeking feedback from the community about the current ward system and whether or not it is satisfactory. Currently, Medicine Hat Catholic is served by a single ward, which encompasses the city, Redcliff, Dunmore and surrounding areas.
The board held an open house earlier in the week, but those who were unable to make the open house can still provide feedback. The board asks comments to be sent to communications@mhcbe.ab.ca or by phoning 403-527-2292. The deadline for feedback is Dec. 21.
