Local greenhouse enters partnership with Saskatchewan grocery chain

REDCLIFF, AB — Grocery shoppers in Saskatchewan will be able to taste produce grown in the Greenhouse Capital of the Prairies.

The Cucumber Man, a greenhouse based in Redcliff, will now be selling cucumbers and tomatoes to the Federated Co-ops in Saskatchewan. In the past, the vegetables sold at Federated Co-ops were brought in from places like Mexico.
Locally grown produce was only available during certain months out of the year.
Owner Rick Wagner says it means a lot to be able to offer his vegetables to new customers.
“It’s a renewed enthusiasm for us as a grower,” he said. “We’ve been at this for almost 30 years now, so to have a store that has my product in it, with a well known grocery chain, it’s a stamp of approval for us as well.”
Wagner says this is only a pilot project for The Cucumber Man, but hopes it means being able to provide more vegetables in the future.
