The City of Medicine Hat Parks and Recreation contracted goats to help with weed control in Police Point Park. Leafy Spurge loves South East Alberta, and the goats love Leafy Spurge! Using targeted browsing, goats are an effective and environmentally safe and sustainable method of weed control.

Opening their doors in 1998, Boylan Imaging had one mission: to bring a high-quality print shop to Medicine Hat and area. Boylan Imaging’s passion for excellence drives their work every day. During COVID, Boylan Imaging has produced plexiglass barriers and shields, vinyl floor decals, and informational signage and products for their own business and countless businesses in Medicine Hat and area.

Marina Cole is the creative mind and artful carver behind Chainsaw Spirit. Using chainsaws and power tools, Marina gives new life to dead or dying trees and left-over stumps. She creates sculptures and functional wood products that spark a sense of wonder––and as she says, “makes people happy.” See her latest sculpture in Central Park.

Natalee Bouman, founder of Natural Advanced Therapy and Medicine Hat Business Innovation Grant recipient (MH BIG), approaches wellness from a mind-body-spirit perspective. Natalee and her practitioners work together to ensure every Advanced Natural Therapy client finds their path to wellness and healing. In response to changing AHS guidelines, Natalee and her team have built a beautiful 1500 sq ft outdoor yoga and fitness space complete with privacy fence, outdoor sound system and high-grade astroturf. Natalee and her team have also opened the space for free rental to Medicine Hat businesses. 

Silver Buckle, a Medicine Hat Business Innovation Grant recipient (MH BIG), has been one of Medicine Hat’s favourite sports bars since opening in 1980. With live music, events, over 20 beers on tap, great food, and sports, it’s no wonder hatters can’t wait to be back in their favourite booth or patio spot! Silver Buckle owners and staff have made some significant changes to ensure their patrons feel safe and comfortable visiting the Buckle. Some of their upgrades and changes include installing protective barriers between VLT machines, allowing for social distancing between tables and using QR codes for contactless ordering! 

Mel and Scott Earl, owners of SpeedPro Signs Medicine Hat (MH BIG applicant) together with their team, work hard to maximize their customers visual presence, provide quality production and eye-catching signage and graphic design services.  SpeedPro MH is always on the lookout for innovative developments in the sign industry.  To keep their clients engaged in the design process and up-to-date about new product offerings, SpeedPro has installed a monitor that allows clients to view their design remotely.  Allowing customers to be involved without having to visit in-person.
