Medicine Hat U19 Thunder begin Western Canadian Softball Championship in BC

A busy Thursday schedule features three games for the Thunder.

They face the BC champs, the Cloverdale Fury, to open the tournament at 9:30 a.m. MST.

Next up is a game against the host Ladysmith Chargers at 2:30 p.m. MST.

Opening Ceremonies take place at 4:30 p.m. MST.

The third game for the Thunder will be a 5:30 p.m. MST start against the Moose Jaw Ice.

On Friday, the Thunder have a noon MST game against second-seed BC team PCFA Titans.

Later in the day, they take on the Manitoba representatives CM Central Energy at 5 p.m. MST.

Saturday at 11:30 a.m. MST, the Thunder play the second-seed Saskatchewan team, the Regina Riot.

The top four teams in the eight-team round-robin move on to the playoffs.

A pair of players from the U19 Thunder announced earlier this month that they have signed to play collegiate softball in the U.S. this fall.

Bree Pavely will head to Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota, and Peightyn Williams will play at Bay de Noc Community College in Iron Mountain, Michigan.

Medicine Hat Minor Softball also had its U17 Thunder Black team win the U17C Provincials in July. They went undefeated over six games at the tournament.

The U11 Thunder Red team brought home bronze at Provincials.
