Root Cellar’s Amazing Race for Hunger returns amid warehouse expansion plans in Medicine Hat
The Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub’s Amazing Race for Hunger is set to return Aug. 22 in Medicine Hat and Redcliff, bringing together teams, businesses, volunteers and sponsors in support of the organization’s emergency food pantry.
Now in its latest edition, the event has grown from a modest fundraiser into one of the Root Cellar’s signature community initiatives, raising money to help stock the pantry during the summer months when donations can slow.
“We created the Root Sellers Amazing Race for Hunger so that we could have a little bit of extra help in the summer months to fill the emergency food pantry,” executive director Melissa Mullis said.
“So it’s gone from a small fundraiser to something really significant every year.”
