Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Medicine Hat area on Thursday night

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the City of Medicine Hat as a fast-moving storm approaches the area on Thursday night.

At 9:21 p.m., meteorologists said a severe thunderstorm located about 15 kilometres southwest of Ralston was moving east at approximately 70 kilometres an hour.

The weather provider says the storm is capable of producing damaging wind gusts, hail up to the size of quarters and heavy rainfall.

Environment Canada is urging residents to take immediate shelter if threatening weather approaches. People who are outdoors are advised to protect themselves from flying debris and hail.
