The Canadian Forces Skyhawks will help launch the Dave Rozdeba Memorial Airshow when they parachute into the Medicine Hat Regional Airport next Friday.

The Skyhawks are scheduled to perform a demonstration jump at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 10, marking the official opening of the two-day Family Fun and Flight event.

It will be the only flying demonstration on the opening day, allowing visitors to explore static aircraft displays, food trucks and family activities.

Admission on Friday is free.

The airshow continues Saturday with a full lineup of aerial performances beginning at 1 p.m. and resuming at 4 p.m.

Admission is $5 per person, while children under 12 are admitted free.

Gates are open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to take sightseeing flights over Medicine Hat aboard an aircraft operated by Super T Aviation.

Flights cost $35 per person and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Attendees are encouraged to bring cash for admission and sightseeing flights.

Organizers say parking will be available in an on-site dirt lot and advise drivers of low-clearance vehicles to use caution.

Traffic detours and reduced speed zones will be in effect around the airport during the event.

The event is smoke-free and vape-free, and pets are not permitted, except for documented service animals.

There will be food trucks on site both days.

All activities are weather permitting.

The airshow was started by Dave Rozdeba in 2009 and has continued in his memory since he died in 2017.

It last took place in 2024 and runs every second year.
