Two Medicine Hat residents are facing charges after police say a break and enter at Athletic Park led to the theft of property belonging to the Medicine Hat Mavericks Baseball Club.

The Medicine Hat Police Service says officers were called after the break-in was discovered on the morning of June 28 at the ballpark on Birch Avenue Southeast.

Police allege the suspects unlawfully entered the facility at about 2:30 a.m. and stole several items belonging to the baseball club.

Investigators identified two suspects, who were arrested later that evening. Police say the investigation led to the recovery of the stolen property.

A 21-year-old and a 24-year-old resident of Medicine Hat are charged with break and enter and theft under $5,000.

The 24-year-old also faces a charge of breaching a release order.

Police say the individual was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Medicine Hat provincial court on July 21.

The 21-year-old was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in court on June 30.
