🪣 South Country Co-op Customer Appreciation Event

FRIDAY

South Country Co-op is celebrating its Customer Appreciation Event on Friday at the Cypress Agro Centre with a day of special promotions and giveaways.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features a “Stuff a Bucket” sale, where customers receive 15 per cent off everything that fits inside a complimentary bucket, while supplies last.

The celebration also includes free coffee and cupcakes, the launch of a Customer Appreciation Flyer and free commemorative 70th-edition cups for the first 140 customers.

⚾️ Medicine Hat Mavericks

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Mavericks host three games at Athletic Park this weekend in Western Canadian Baseball League action.

On Friday, the Swift Current 57s are in the city for a 6:45 p.m. game.

The Sylvan Lake Gulls have their only games of the season in Medicine Hat on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday’s game is at 6:45 p.m., Sunday’s is at 2:05 p.m.

Tickets are available through the Mavericks’ website and at the Athletic Park box office.

👞 Hidebound Leather Exhibition

The Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre is hosting the opening of Hidebound on Friday evening, an event celebrating the enduring artistry and cultural significance of leather.

The evening begins at 7 p.m. with a blessing from Charlie Fox, followed by remarks from the curator and a special talk by Brenda Mercer on the importance of leather within Indigenous culture.

The exhibition brings together a selection of notable works from the Esplanade’s collection, including many pieces not previously displayed, highlighting the craft’s growing presence in contemporary handmade and DIY culture.

Guests are encouraged to arrive dressed in leather in celebration of the theme, while the bar will feature a curated scotch selection with tasting notes inspired by leather to complement the evening’s focus on craftsmanship.

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is inviting residents to learn more about the region’s native pollinators during a free presentation on Friday evening at the Nature Centre in Police Point Park.

Local naturalist Lloyd Bennett will discuss the area’s most common pollinators, the plants they help sustain and the important role they play in the local ecosystem.

The presentation begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Registration is required as space is limited, and donations will be accepted.

A Historic Walking Tour of First Street SW is taking place Saturday at 10 a.m., continuing the series that follows earlier tours through the city’s historic neighbourhoods.

Once considered outside city limits and originally homestead land, First Street Southwest offers a look into some of Medicine Hat’s early development and growth.

The tour begins at 78 First St. S.W. and runs for about one hour, with a complimentary walking guide provided to participants.

The event is weather-dependent and will be rescheduled in the event of rain.

Space is limited and is booked ahead of time through tixx.ca.

🚓 Medicine Hat Police Service Auction

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Police Service is hosting its annual auction on Saturday, with in-person and online bidding available.

The auction takes place at the police station downtown, beginning at 10 a.m. with about 150 bicycles plus additional items up for bid, along with miscellaneous tools.

The event is now uploaded in sale order, and bidders are encouraged to review item conditions before participating.

A Hucky Tucky food truck will also be on site for the duration of the auction.

The third annual Pride for Everyone event is taking place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kin Coulee Park in the Kinette Picnic Shelter area.

The free community celebration begins at 11 a.m. with opening remarks and Kona Ice while supplies last, followed by Indigenous drumming and dancing and a presentation from Two-Spirit knowledge keeper Warren Winnipeg at 11:30 a.m.

The schedule continues with Drag Story Time featuring Luna Sea at 12:30 p.m., along with interactive activities throughout the afternoon, including “Soak the Pride Board,” tie-dye stations, pizza while supplies last and community partner booths.

Organizers say the event will also include sensory play areas, button making, rainbow hair colour, lawn games and a selfie station, with all activities free for attendees.

🎉 Family Fun Event by Kinsmen of Medicine Hat

The Kinsmen Club of Medicine Hat is hosting its fourth annual Family Fun Event Saturday at the Kin Coulee Park bandshell area, following the Kinsmen Duck Derby at 11 a.m.

The free afternoon runs from 12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. and features hot dogs, bouncy castles, axe throwing, balloon creations, pedal tractors and face painting.

The event will also include a special appearance by Sir E.G.G. McQuacKINs, the Duck Derby mascot, along with Duck Derby cutouts for photo opportunities.

Organizers say the event is designed as a family-friendly follow-up to one of the club’s signature summer fundraisers.

The action begins with drivers taking to the track for one of the Speedway’s most popular fan events, which blends NASCAR-style racing with demolition derby contact, for a high-energy crowd.

The event will feature five classes of race cars, from mini cup cars for the young drivers to stock cars for professionals.

Tickets are available at the gate, with kids, seniors, and families welcome.

🎤 Moranz & Fremlin Live at Liquid

Moranz & Fremlin, with special guests Mandy and Doug Noel, are set to perform at the Liquid Concert and Event Venue on Sunday.
