Three southern Alberta residents are facing multiple charges after a series of copper wire thefts
Three southern Alberta residents are facing multiple charges after a series of copper wire thefts targeting agricultural and oil and gas infrastructure across the region.
The RCMP Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit launched an investigation in May 2026 into a string of thefts and damage in Lethbridge County, the Municipal District of Taber, and Newell County.
Investigators say copper wire was repeatedly targeted at irrigation and industrial sites.
Police say the investigation escalated on May 29, when officers observed suspects actively stealing irrigation equipment from a property near Vauxhall.
