Margaret White (nee Klassen)
August 16th, 1942 – June 20th, 2026
Marge was born at Borden, SK to Jacob (Jake) and Katerina (Tena) Klassen. She was the third of four children in a loving and hard-working home.
Her parents worked for the phone company, Jake as a lineman and maintenance man and Tena managing the telephone office and switchboard which was in their home. This meant that as soon as she was old enough Marge learned to work at the switchboard teaching her responsibility and the value of helping others.
She did well in school and attended the University of Saskatchewan where she obtained a BEd, as well as a husband and life-long companion. She married Clarence (Jack) White on October 31st, 1963.
She and Jack taught school in Melfort and Estevan, SK before moving to Medicine Hat, AB where they remained. Marge taught at Medicine Hat College from the time they moved to the city until she retired. Never one to sit still for long, she obtained an MBA from the University of Calgary while working full time and raising five children. Jack was her frequent chauffeur, doing the driving so she could study and occasionally sleep during the many trips to and from Calgary.
She was a life-long learner and educator, both professionally and at home. Her culinary skills were well known, and she frequently took cooking classes to learn about new types of cuisine. Her children and grandchildren learned to “just try it”, usually with excellent results! Marge loved nature, growing things, and watching and listening to birds. Meadowlarks were a special favorite, and their song could always make her smile. She was intelligent, resilient, quick-witted, loving and kind.
Marge left this life early in the morning on June 20th, 2026, with her loving husband at her side. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Marie, and her youngest son Mac. She is survived by her husband, Jack; her children and grandchildren, Randy (Susanne) – Benjamin, Diedrich, Hannah; Sean (Kimara) – London (McCall); EJ – Jaden, Ada, Teija; and Kate (Jose) – Ezequiel, Solomon, Efrayim; as well as her great-grandchildren, Scotland, Brisbane and Woolley; her brother, Jake; sister, Betty; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1864 Division Ave N) on Monday, June 29th, 2026, at 1:00pm. Condolences may be made at www.gracememorial.com.
