Medicine Hat High School captures team championship at Alberta Track and Field Provincials

Medicine Hat High School continued its dominance on the provincial track and field stage, capturing its eighth consecutive team championship at the School Sport Alberta Track and Field Provincial Championships in Calgary.

Competing at Foothills Athletic Park after winning the South Zone title, 33 Hawks athletes represented Medicine Hat on May 28.

They combined for 17 medals against the top youth competitors from across the province.

Gold medal winners included Zaide Kolody in the 800 metres, Donald Abba in the high jump, and Hayden Van Maarion in the pentathlon.

Silver medals went to Tim Bergmann in pole vault, Adrienne Campbelle in discus, Susan Donudenu in the 100 metres, Julia Dyck in discus, Abba in long jump, Gabrianna Cardona in shot put, Keene Shigehiro in javelin and Nick Schlenker in pole vault.

Bronze medals were earned by Kolody in the 400 metres, Donudenu in long jump, Hadley Peters in pole vault, Charlie Routly in triple jump, Max Trentini in the 200 metres and Reece Tschritter in pole vault.

The Hawks finished the championship with 565.5 points to secure the provincial banner.
