Werner Fricke
1941 ~ 2026
It is with a deep sadness that Corey announces the passing of her beloved husband Werner Ludwig Fricke. He passed away in Medicine Hat on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the age of 84 years. Along with Corey, Werner’s memory will live on through his two step-children, Janice Stevens (Adam) and Ken (Violet) Stevens; two step-grandchildren, Isabella and Marina Stevens as well as two sisters, Ursella Johnson (Don) and Christa Fricke (Jerry). Werner was born in Heidelberg, Germany on June 23, 1941. As a young man, he immigrated to Canada with his family. Following High School, Werner attended Sait where he studied to become a Red Seal Chef, a profession he excelled at from 1961 through until his retirement in 2021. During that time, many will remember Werner from his time working for Horst at the Elkwater Landing (2006 – 2009) and for establishing the Patio Café with Corey (2009 – 2021). He was an avid “Car Guy” and also made time to support his favorite teams, the Flames and the Stamps! Werner’s life will be honoured and his memory cherished without the proceedings of a formal funeral service.
