Alberta’s Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) behind the arrest of two southern Alberta men following the discovery of cocaine and cash valued at nearly $400,000.

In a statement Friday morning, it said its Lethbridge-based organized crime team, with the help of the Lethbridge Police Service, seized the drugs on May 20th after searching two homes, a storage unit, and a vehicle.

Authorities say they were able to seize over 3900 grams of cocaine, 223 grams of ‘meth’, firearms ammunition, body armour, and $2,775 in cash.

“Organized crime stretches beyond municipal boundaries and does not discriminate in how it inflicts harm on communities. This case exemplifies how ALERT teams share intelligence and enforcement strategies to disrupt the drug trade,” said ALERT Staff Sergeant Trevor Sheppard.

Two suspects – 36-year-old Drew Boake and 21-year-old Griffin Walkey, both from Lethbridge, were arrested May 28th and face several charges related to drug trafficking.

Police say they had been investigating the pair since November of last year.

The May 20th search warrants coincided with a drug shipment arriving from Calgary.

The two accused are scheduled to appear in court June 11th.
