Root Cellar’s annual Food Round-up returns on Saturday across Medicine Hat
Residents in Medicine Hat are being encouraged to leave donations on their doorsteps on Saturday morning as the Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub’s annual Food Round-up returns for its fourth year.
Volunteers will begin collecting bags filled with non-perishable food and household essentials at 9 a.m. as part of a citywide effort to help replenish the organization’s pantry.
Melissa Mullis, Executive Director of the Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub, said the round-up was created to replenish the Root Cellar’s pantry during seasonal shortages.
“The Food Round-up was created four years ago in response to the spring and summer months, when our pantry was quite empty. We really needed a way to fill the shelves,” Mullis said.
