North American One-Armed Golfer Association championship wraps up at Connaught on Thursday

Medicine Hat’s Jesse Florkowski teeing off on Wednesday at the NAOAGA championship at Connaught Golf Club.

There are four divisions in the tournament, with 32 golfers competing.

Florkowski is playing in the Gletchell Division, which is unassisted and requires a golfer to have only one hand touching the club for any stroke.

He defeated John Sass in match play on Wednesday and on Thursday takes on the fourth-ranked Steve Shipuleski, who beat Alan Gentry.

In the other semi-final matchup, second-ranked Ryder Barr takes on third-ranked Vince Biser. Barr had beaten Lucas Rosales, and Biser defeated Alex Gibbs.

Additional divisions include the Fullgraf, which allows the golfer to use anything to assist their one hand touching the club for a golf stroke.

Rob Walden won that event as the lone golfer in that category. He shot three over par through his first two rounds.

The Parr Division is for those aged 55 and older, and includes both unassisted and assisted players. That category is already down to the final two, as the top-ranked Billy Frey will take on the second-ranked Trevor Belcher.

The Sanders Division includes both assisted and unassisted players, with course handicaps and each player’s handicap score to determine the best net score. Top-ranked Randall Mackus takes on fourth-ranked Cale Olsen in one semi-final, second-ranked Blair Williams faces Bob Gorman, who had upset third-ranked Jeff Dawley in the quarter-final.
