The library has several things to do that go beyond reading books.

Here are the top five things to do at the Medicine Hat Public Library in May 2026.

Pecha Kucha Vol. 37, June 5, 6:30 p.m., All Ages (Esplanade Main Theatre)

Join us in the Main Theatre of the Esplanade for a night of connecting with our community. Enjoy talks from passionate people about interesting things in a 20×20 format – 20 slides x 20 seconds per slide. Suggested donation of $5. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., program begins promptly at 7:30 p.m.

TIC TAC Presents: Crafts & Controllers, June 5, 6:45 p.m., Ages 13-19

Come down to the library for an after-hours night of video games, crafts and karaoke! Try out our brand new Switch 2 and PS5, or customize a t-shirt or pair of socks. And don’t forget to belt out your favourite tunes in the Theatre. Snacks and pop provided. Doors are open between 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., then locked for your safety. Ends at 9 p.m.

Brews and Board Games, June 18, 6 p.m.-9 p.m., All Ages (Hometown Culinary)

Join us for a fun-filled board game night at Hometown Culinary! Whether you’re a strategy master or a casual player, come enjoy friendly competition, meet new people, and explore classic and modern board games. No experience necessary—just bring your enthusiasm! Snacks and good company provided. Thank you to our friends at Hometown for hosting us!

Big Truck Day, June 20, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., All Ages (Co-op Place)

Start your engines and head over to Co-op Place for a day full of big wheels, big machines, and big fun! Kids of all ages can explore big trucks, construction vehicles, and other awesome equipment. Get up close, press some buttons, and meet the people who make these powerful machines go!

Dungeon Masters in Training, June 27, 10:30 a.m., Ages 13-19

Learn how to run your own Dungeon & Dragons campaigns! Must have some Dungeons & Dragons prior knowledge and/or experience. In partnership with Pop Up Parks. Register at mhpl.info/register
