Warnings in effect for almost two-thirds of Alberta

No ‘let up’ in rain until at least Tuesday: Environment & Climate Change Canada

May 31, 2026 | 5:24 PM

Rainfall warnings issued early Sunday by Environment & Climate Change Canada for more than half of the province remain in place heading into the evening hours.

The weather agency is forecasting between 50 and 100 millimetres of precipitation before conditions are expected to improve sometime Tuesday.

With the exception of the northwest, the system bringing all the moisture is blanketing everything east of the Foothills, including Calgary and Edmonton.

The forecast for the Lethbridge region is calling for another 10-20 mm for Sunday night, and as much as 45 mm more for Monday.

Updated weather information can be found here.

ECCC is strongly urging if your plans include travel to check road conditions on Alberta 511 before you venture out.

It’s also recommending you stay up to date on any rising water levels through the Alberta River Forecast Centre website.

The same weather pattern hitting Alberta is also bringing significant rainfall across the Rockies in B.C.’s East Kootenay and Columbia regions with between 40 and 80 millimetres forecast there.
