The Brooks Bandits have hired a new voice of the team.

Rory McGouran takes on the role of Director of Broadcasting and Community Relations.

Bandits President Paul Seaton said that McGouran brings credibility, energy, creativity, and a deep understanding of both the game and the importance of community engagement.

“We are confident in his ability to elevate our broadcasting presence while strengthening the connection between our organization, our supporters, and the broader community,” Seaton said in a statement from the board of directors.

McGouran brings over a decade of experience in junior hockey broadcasting, media, and corporate partnership operations.

His work has spanned both Canada and the United States.

McGouran spent seven seasons as the play-by-play voice and marketing manager with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Humboldt Broncos, taking over in the 2018-19 season.

His time in the SJHL also included additional play-by-play work for the league and co-hosting a league-wide weekly talk show.

Next, he worked for the Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League in Canton, Mass.

“I’m honoured to join such a prestigious organization and become a part of the Bandits Family,” McGouran said in a statement released by the Bandits.

“It takes an entire community to run a successful hockey team, and I can’t wait to introduce myself to the fans, the sponsors, the players and parents, volunteers, and everyone that is cheering on the Bandits,” he added.

“I’m a true believer in maintaining an open-door policy and connecting with my community. I actively encourage fans, sponsors, players, and community members to connect with me, share ideas, and be part of shaping the team’s story.”

Earlier in his career, McGouran worked as a producer and on-air host for TSN 1290 in Winnipeg, where he covered live professional sports, produced Winnipeg Jets broadcasts, and co-hosted an MMA talk show, “The Weigh-In.”

The Bandits’ previous play-by-play broadcaster, Nathan Crosby, was named as the new general manager for Medicine Hat Minor Hockey in April.

A role he shifted into with the conclusion of the Bandits’ season as the BCHL Champions.
