The Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) released its 2025 Annual Report this week.

Highlighting the past year’s work of the MHPS, it also includes an overview of policing priorities, community safety initiatives, operational achievements, community partnerships, and organizational developments.

Also included in the report are statistical information and reporting related to service delivery, crime trends, road safety, community engagement, and internal investments in people, wellness, and technology.

The MHPS says it reflects its ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and public trust by sharing information about its work to support a safe and strong community.

The four priorities listed in the report include community safety, community engagement, investment in human resources and technology, and organizational wellness.

Calls for service in 2025 increased to 35,541, up from 33,006 in 2024 and 32,502 in 2023.

Occurrences for the Downtown Patrol Unit are on the rise, with increases in almost every category analyzed.

A total of 1,181 occurrences were attended to in 2025, up from 844 in 2024 and 544 in 2023.

The majority of occurrences in all three years are unwanted guests, with a total of 486 in 2025, representing about 41 per cent of occurrences that year.

Bylaw responses increased to 7,617 in 2025, up from 6,294 in 2024 and 5,295 in 2023.

Property offences increased across almost all categories, with mental health diversions dropping slightly for a year prior.

The total value of drugs seized in 2025 was over $1 million, up from $322, 871 in 2024 and $943,991 in 2023.
