Medicine Hat Tigers aim to take series lead as Conference Finals shifts to the ‘Hat

Apr 28, 2026 | 12:01 PM

Following a 5-0 Game 2 victory, the Medicine Hat Tigers see the Eastern Conference Finals shift to Co-op Place tonight for Game 3, as the defending WHL Champions will look to take a 2-1 series lead over the Prince Albert Raiders.

Both teams emerged with separate five-goal wins in games one and two to see the series be knotted up at one game a piece.

The Raiders kicked off the Conference Finals with an emphatic 8-3 Game 1 win where they added four third period goals to bloat the score.

Medicine Hat responded with a shutout win in Game 2 where they added a pair of late goals to inflate the score in their favour.

Despite the lopsided scorelines in both games, they have been far more competitive than the scores would suggest.

Jordan Switzer recorded his first career postseason shutout, turning aside 30 shots in Game 2 and is the presumptive Game 3 starter.

Tigers captain and Four Broncos Memorial Trophy finalist, Bryce Pickford, enters tonight riding a seven-game point streak with eight points over that span.

Both teams have battled injuries in this series.

The Medicine Hat Tigers were without 20-year-old forward Ethan Neutens in the first two games of this series and were without Jonas Woo for Game 1.

The Prince Albert Raiders had been at full strength up until the third period of Game 2, when Dallas Stars draft pick Brandon Gorzynski went down the tunnel favouring his shoulder. His status for Game 3 is questionable.

Game 2 was the first time this postseason that Prince Albert failed to score the games opening goal, and was the first time they trailed by more than one goal.

Meanwhile the Medicine Hat Tigers will look to build upon their Game 2 result and take their first lead of the Conference Finals tonight.

Puck drop for Game 3 is set for 7:00 p.m. MST inside Co-op Place.

The pre-game show begins at 6:30 p.m. on WILD 94.5 FM.
