Apr 28, 2026 | 9:30 AM

Cypress County hosts a special meeting of council on Wednesday at 1 p.m., with the 2026 property tax rate on the agenda.

Documents show that increases aren’t being proposed to the municipal rate for farmland and residential.

The municipal tax rates for non-residential, small business, and machinery and equipment are expected to increase 3.89 per cent.

Non-municipal tax rates are showing increases across all categories.

Farmland is up 3.99 per cent, residential at 5.6 per cent, non-residential rises 5.9 per cent, small business is 6.3 per cent, and machinery and equipment is up 6.26 per cent.

Cypress County is required to collect non-municipal taxes for Alberta Education, the Cypress View Foundation, the Alberta RCMP, and designated industrial property.

A bylaw to approve a special tax for dust control is being proposed. It would impose a tax on parcels of land that benefit from the County’s placement of dust treatments.

The 2025 audited financial statement and financial information return will be reviewed and discussed by the council.

The meeting is being streamed and is available to view on the Cypress County YouTube channel.
