The Brooks Bandits have set up a winner-take-all Game 7 in their second round BCHL playoff series with the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

After a heartbreaking 2-1, double-overtime loss in Game 5 in Brooks on Friday night, the Bandits, down 3-2 in the series, travelled to Sherwood Park for a must-win Game 6.

The three previous games had gone to overtime, but on Sunday, the Bandits skated to a 5-2 regulation win.

Frantisek Albrecht started the scoring for the Bandits 15:42 into the first period with his first of the playoffs. Zachary Deleau and Isaac Johnson drew assists.

Then at the 19:09 mark, Mathis Dufour scored his first of the game, with assists going to Dante Siciliano and Johnson to put the Bandits up 2-0 going into the second.

The Bandits would extend the lead to 3-0 on a shorthanded marker scored by Dufour at the 12:48 mark of the second period, with Johnson picking up his third assist of the game.

A Ryan White power play goal at the 14:47 mark would get the Crusaders on the board, and put the game at 3-1 Bandits heading to the third period.

The Bandits would expand their lead early in the third with a pair of goals just 15 seconds apart.

A Nicolas Addy goal, assisted by Leon Bussmann, would make it 4-1 Bandits at the 1:54 mark.

Then a Bussmann goal with Dane Sorensen getting the helper extended the lead to 5-1 at 2:09.

A Crusaders goal from Quincy Supprien gave the Sherwood Park crowd something to cheer about at the 12:56 mark, but the Bandits locked things down the rest of the way for the win.

Goaltender Zach Zahara was sharp in the Bandits’ net, stopping 34 of 36 shots faced.

Game 7 at Centennial Regional Arena on Tuesday has a 7 p.m. puck drop.

The Interior East Division playoff winner will face the winner of the Interior West Division playoff between the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and the Cranbrook Bucks.

That series is also tied at three games apiece, with Game 7 set for Tuesday in Salmon Arm.
