Anti-separatism

Alberta is Canada group plans day of action in Medicine Hat on Saturday

Apr 24, 2026 | 8:12 AM

The Alberta is Canada group has a day of action planned in Medicine Hat on Saturday.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to noon at 1299 Trans Canada Way SE.

The anti-separatism group says it’s a show of solidarity for Canadian unity.

Organizer Brittany Doctor says that we live on treaty land, and the way that the treaties are written with the British Commonwealth, there is no room for negotiating whether Alberta remains part of Canada.

“I find in Alberta, what’s happening is there are lots of individual groups sharing the same values and the same message, and we all need to pull together,” Doctor said.

“We all need to row in the same direction. So it’s about collaboration with a variety of different communities across Alberta.”

Doctor says the event will be a little different than the one they hosted in February.

“We’ve shifted away from the academics a little bit for this occasion. We were having a bit of trouble getting people pinned down schedule-wise for a speaker session,” Doctor said.

“We are focusing on a community gathering. We will have a microphone and speakers there. And what we’re hoping is that it will be a little bit more like instrumental music, and then we are going to have a hype man.”

She adds that McBride’s Bakery is donating free donuts, and refreshments will be on site for those looking to join the conversation.

An event will also be taking place at Calgary City Hall on Saturday at noon.
