A pair of open houses is being held next week for the Highway 3 twinning between Whitla and Medicine Hat.

Following these information sessions, detailed design work will begin. This work is anticipated to be completed by late 2026, followed by regulatory approvals.

The first open house is Monday, April 27, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Medicine Hat College’s Big Eagle Room.

The second open is on Tuesday, April 28, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Seven Persons Community Hall.

In February, the provincial government announced its investment of $152 million over three years in Budget 2026 to continue the twinning work on this section of the highway.

A spokesman with the Alberta Transportation Minister said earlier this month that a construction tender is expected in late 2027, pending the progress on right-of-way and regulatory approvals.

Additional information is available through the governments webpage where an online survey available until May 12.
