Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Eirich passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the age of 97 years. She is survived by her children, Randy (Shirley) Eirich, Robbie Eirich, Gary (Claudette) Eirich and Jacqueline (Neal) Dirk. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Scott (Elizabeth) Schneider; Chris (Linda) Eirich; Craig (Miranda) Eirich and their children, Arthur and Elizabeth; Jeremy (Krystal) Eirich and their children, Maxx and Otto; Tyson (Brooke) Dirk and their children, Myla and Lincoln; Mitchell (Brittany) Dirk and their children, Zoey, Alexa, Max and Zack; Austin (Shannon) Dirk and their children, Addison, Emmett and Jayda; Stacey’s children, Tylor, Justice, Trey, Rhyss, Zaylin and Hyde. She also leaves to mourn two brothers, Carl (Lorraine) Doll and Chris (Verna) Doll; two brothers-in-law, Jim Cocks and Emil Eirich as well as many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Eirich; parents, Andrew and Monica Doll; granddaughter, Stacey Schneider-Ham; in-laws, David and Theophilge Eirich; infant brothers, Andrew and John; sisters and their husbands, Eva (Adam) Klippert, Ramona (Bert) Bertsch, Rosemarie (George) Wandler, Barbara (Herbert) Eirich and Kay (Al) Wegwitz. Betty was born in the Parkbeg/Mortlach area of Saskatchewan on December 18th, 1928. When she was 8 years old, the family lost their mother. Her Dad was left with 8 children, the oldest being 12 years and the youngest, 10 months. Betty shared many stories of the closeness of their family and how it was growing up without a mother. Singing was something that was fostered in Betty while growing up and she loved to sing right up and until the day before she passed. She was a no-nonsense woman with a deep faith in God and a great work ethic. Betty will be remembered for her singing, story telling, apple pies and down to earth spirit. Betty lived in Mortlach, Mendham, Moose Jaw, Medicine Hat, Leader (where she and Art raised their family) and her last years were spent back in Medicine Hat. The last few years of Betty’s life she resided at Sunnyview Care Home. A huge thank you to the staff for the loving care that Betty received. You became her people! “Rest well Mom. Until we meet again.” Vigil Prayers will be recited at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. with Father Fernando Genogaling celebrant The Funeral Mass will be held at Little Flower Catholic Church, 308 Main Street West, Leader, SK., on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Prince Sarpong celebrant. Interment will follow at Leader Cemetery.
