Medicine Hat’s Miller makes AHL debut with Penguins

Medicine Hat’s Ryan Miller made his American Hockey League debut on Wednesday with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

He had three shots and two penalty minutes in a 5-1 loss to the Hershey Bears.

The 18-year-old played this season in the Western Hockey League with the Portland Winterhawks, where he was the team Captain.

The Penguins announced the signing of an Amateur Tryout on April 8.

Miller had 30 goals, 45 assists and 75 points during the 2025-26 WHL Season.

The Pittsburgh Penguins selected him in the 2025 NHL Draft’s fifth round, 130th overall.

In 182 career WHL regular-season games, Miller has 121 points with 52 goals and 69 assists. He has 17 points in 32 career playoff games.

Miller played the majority of his minor hockey in Medicine Hat, except for the 2021-22 season, when he played for the Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 Prep team based out of Devon, Alta.

He is also an alumnus of the South East Athletic Club U15 AAA Tigers and the South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 Prep team.

Miller had committed to play with the University of Denver Pioneers for the 2026-27 NCAA Division I season.
